Inferior Vena Cava (IVC)
Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) filters are placed with a small catheter via the groin or internal jugular vein access to prevent pulmonary embolism which is the migration of blood clots from the lower extremity to the lungs. These filters can usually be removed when clinically appropriate.
